What to look for in a router
- check_circle Connection type first — a fibre or ADSL line needs a standard WiFi router, while a SIM-based 4G/LTE router is what gets you online where fixed lines don't reach.
- check_circle Pocket vs desktop — a battery-powered pocket router travels and shares a SIM with several devices; a mains-powered desktop unit gives stronger, steadier coverage at home.
- check_circle Coverage vs speed — for a two-storey house, aim for a router rated well beyond your package speed, or plan for a mesh/extender; walls cost more signal than distance does.
- check_circle WiFi standard — WiFi 6 (802.11ax) mainly helps when many devices are online at once; on a single-device connection WiFi 5 is still perfectly adequate.
- check_circle Network compatibility — confirm the router is unlocked or works with your provider's SIM (Dialog, SLT-Mobitel or Hutch) before buying.
How we ranked these 4g routers
This isn't a paid list. We start with every 4g routers actually in stock at DreamTek, then rank them on the things that matter once your money's down: whether it's available right now, the length and provider of the warranty, the real feature set (not just spec-sheet numbers), the current discount off RRP, and live LKR price. Picks and prices are refreshed from our catalogue — last updated October 2026 — so what you read here is what you can buy today. If something sells out, it drops down the list.
